Savvy Games Group and Roblox have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand game development opportunities and support creative talent across Saudi Arabia.
The development was highlighted by Isa Muhammad, from PocketGamer.biz who spearheads the publication’s Middle East and Africa games industry coverage, following a report first published by Arab News.
Under the agreement, Savvy Games Group will support Roblox in establishing an operational presence in the Kingdom. The move will bring dedicated developer relations expertise into the country, allowing Roblox to work more closely with Saudi-based developers and studios.
The partnership will provide local creators with access to Roblox development tools and resources, including localised training, technical support, community-building initiatives, and upskilling workshops through the Roblox Creator Hub. Tailored competitions will also be introduced to encourage participation from aspiring developers.
More Than 700,000 Students Involved in Nationwide Competition
As part of the initiative, Roblox will directly support Saudi developers in transforming winning concepts from a nationwide grassroots competition into playable games. The competition involved more than 700,000 high school students from across Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration places a strong emphasis on education and builds on Savvy Games Group’s existing partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Education. Both organisations will also work with the Ministry to co-develop educational materials focused on online safety, parental controls, and digital literacy.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s wider Vision 2030 ambitions to diversify the economy and strengthen the Kingdom’s digital and creative industries through investment in youth-focused technology and education programmes.
Industry Leaders Highlight Vision 2030 Ambitions
“Saudi Arabia’s games sector continues to grow at pace, alongside rising interest in game development as a career path and an avenue for entrepreneurship. We are pleased to partner with Roblox to encourage more Saudi students to utilise development tools, fostering creativity and equipping emerging talent with the resources and support to help succeed in this rapidly evolving industry.”
Brian Ward, CEO, Savvy Games Group
“Our vision at Roblox is to reimagine the way people come together, enabling anyone, anywhere to become a creator by lowering the technical barriers to entry traditionally associated with game development. Today’s announcement with Savvy Games will help realise that vision for creators across Saudi Arabia and align with the growth of the Kingdom’s creator ecosystem under Vision 2030. We firmly believe that investing in high-quality, educational opportunities for the next generation of Saudis will contribute to the Kingdom’s rapidly growing digital economy.”

Roblox Continues to Address Safety Concerns
The partnership comes as Roblox continues to face scrutiny in several countries, including Kuwait, Russia and Egypt, alongside investigations and concerns raised by Australian authorities regarding child safety and platform moderation.
Roblox has since introduced expanded safety measures, including the Global Parent Council and mandatory age verification for chat features.
