Saudi University Rankings Show Continued Progress
Taif University recorded one of the strongest advances among the three institutions. According to the August 2026 report, the university moved up 219 places to 408th globally, compared with 627th in 2025.
The university also rose to fourth among Saudi universities, compared with sixth last year. The improvement reflects continued efforts to strengthen scientific research and academic competitiveness.
ShanghaiRanking currently places Taif University within the 401–500 band in its 2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Imam Mohammed Bin Saud Islamic University Moves Up
Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh also recorded a significant improvement.
The university moved into the 601–700 global band, compared with the 901–1,000 band in 2025.
The university attributed the progress to measures aimed at improving research quality and output. These included supporting researchers and research teams, expanding funding programmes and strengthening its international presence.

Jazan University Maintains Its Global Presence
Jazan University ranked within the 901–1,000 band globally and among the top 14 Saudi universities.
The result marks the university’s third consecutive year in the ranking. It also reflects ongoing efforts to improve educational outcomes, strengthen research and support academic and research staff.

ShanghaiRanking publishes the top 1,000 universities each year, although more than 2,500 institutions are assessed. Its methodology uses six objective indicators, including research publications, highly cited researchers, major academic awards and institutional performance.
