Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to education for peace during a session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris, highlighting national efforts to promote tolerance, equality and global understanding through education.

Islamic University of Madinah Recognised

During the 224th Executive Board session, the Islamic University of Madinah was cited as a global model for intercultural coexistence and global citizenship.

The university hosts students from more than 180 countries and promotes mutual respect and linguistic diversity within its academic environment. This diversity was presented as a key example of how education can foster cross cultural understanding.

Commitment to Tolerance and Inclusion

Saudi Arabia emphasised that its education policies are designed to promote tolerance and equality while rejecting violence, discrimination and extremism. Curricula across institutions aim to strengthen values of human coexistence and justice, positioning education as a central tool for building international understanding.

Supporting Institutions and Initiatives

The address also highlighted several national and regional initiatives that support these goals. These include the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology, the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication and the UNESCO Regional Center for Dialogue and Peace.

These institutions were presented as benchmarks for promoting dialogue, cooperation and peaceful coexistence at both regional and international levels.
