Saudi Canadian Education Partnership Forum Strengthens Academic Collaboration

The second edition of the Saudi-Canadian Education Partnership Forum, organised by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the University of Toronto, was held in Toronto, Canada, bringing together senior leaders from public and private sector institutions in both countries.

At the opening of the Saudi-Canadian Education Partnership Forum, The Vice Minister of Education, The educational partnership between the Kingdom and Canada represents a well-established academic collaboration.

Strong Bilateral Participation

A total of 33 Saudi entities participated in the forum, including ministries, national bodies, universities, government and private institutes, research centres, hospitals, and Saudi cultural attachés in Canada and the United States. In addition, more than 45 Canadian universities and educational institutions took part in the event, reflecting the scale and depth of engagement between the two countries.

Focus on Vision 2030 and Innovation

Her Excellency, Dr Enas bint Sulaiman Al-Issa, Vice Minister of Education, emphasised at the forum’s opening that the educational partnership between the Kingdom and Canada represents a well-established academic collaboration. She highlighted the development and progress of the education ecosystem, noting its increasing competitiveness and alignment with innovation and economic development in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Dialogue Sessions and Knowledge Exchange

Two dialogue sessions were conducted as part of the forum’s programme, featuring academics and specialists from both countries. The first session explored institutional and national priorities within the education ecosystem in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The second session focused on enhancing cooperation in technical and vocational training between the Kingdom and Canada.

Expanding Opportunities and Partnerships

The forum also included specialised bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening partnerships and identifying new areas of collaboration. On the sidelines of the event, the Arab-Canadian Business Council, in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in the Kingdom and the Saudi-Canadian Business Council, held a dedicated meeting to support cross sector engagement.

The Saudi delegation further extended its visit by touring several Canadian universities and specialised colleges across the province of Ontario, gaining insights into academic practices and institutional excellence.

A Platform for Future Collaboration

The forum, which launched its inaugural edition in Riyadh in 2024, serves as a strategic platform to foster collaboration across education, research, technical, and healthcare sectors in both countries. It also aims to explore investment opportunities within the Kingdom’s education sector while strengthening long term academic and institutional partnerships.
