The Ministry of Education announced that registration for new students in primary and early childhood education will commence on Sunday. The ministry noted that students born during the COVID-19 pandemic period are eligible to enrol in formal education, provided they meet the approved age admission criteria.

Age Eligibility Criteria

The ministry clarified that the eligible age groups for registration include children who had reached six years of age or older before August 24, 2020, falling under the first category for standard admission.

The second category comprises children who are under six years of age by no more than 90 days, specifically those born between August 25, 2020, and November 22, 2020, on the condition that they have successfully completed a full year of kindergarten.

Kindergarten Levels Explained

The ministry outlined that kindergarten registration is divided into three levels. Children born between August 24, 2023, and August 25, 2022, qualify for Level 1 (KG1). Those born between August 24, 2022, and August 25, 2021, are eligible for Level 2 (KG2). Level 3 (KG3) is designated for children born between August 24, 2021, and August 25, 2020.

This framework ensures that age placements correspond appropriately with the requirements of each educational stage in accordance with the approved standards.
