Saudi Students Shine at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad in Georgia

At the 2024 European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), held in Georgia, Saudi students Fatima Buali and Retaj Al-Saleh demonstrated remarkable talent and perseverance, leading to noteworthy success.

Al-Ahsa City’s Fatima Buali won the bronze medal, and the Eastern Region’s Retaj Al-Saleh was given an honourable mention. The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, conducted an exhaustive assessment and training process that culminated in their participation.

This year, the competition drew 212 students from 54 countries, highlighting the global scale of the event.

Saudi Arabia’s continued involvement in EGMO has been fruitful, with a tally that includes two gold medals, six silver medals, thirteen bronze medals, and seven honourable mentions over 12 participations.
