The King Salman Science Oasis has introduced a new play based learning programme designed to strengthen children’s cognitive and creative abilities as part of the festival, “Math, the Language of Science.” The initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing emphasis on innovative and engaging educational experiences that nurture future generations.
A Collaborative Approach to Learning
The programme is being delivered in partnership with the Makkah region’s General Directorate of Education and Umm Al Qura University, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The collaboration brings together academic expertise, modern educational practices and hands on learning, ensuring that children benefit from a rich and interactive experience.
Purpose and Educational Vision
The new initiative aims to develop children’s abilities through an innovative blend of educational content, mental challenges and interactive games. Running until 30 November, the programme cultivates cognitive skills in engaging and enjoyable ways, helping children develop faster learning abilities, stronger comprehension, creative thinking, problem solving, self awareness and essential life skills.
The focus on play based learning reflects a wider educational shift towards methods that encourage exploration, independent thinking and confidence building. Children are not only acquiring knowledge but also learning how to apply it in real world scenarios.
Core Skills and Development Areas
The programme emphasises several core abilities that contribute to well rounded development. These include:
- Quick wittedness and cognitive flexibility
- Memory enhancement
- Concentration and attention control
- Balanced and logical thinking
- Motor coordination and refined movement skills
- Systematic problem solving through analysis, experimentation and step by step reasoning
- Imagination building and the development of innovative ideas
Designed for young learners, the activities combine fun with structured learning techniques that help children build stronger academic foundations while keeping them motivated.
Enhancing Future Readiness Through Play
By bringing together education, science and creative engagement, the King Salman Science Oasis aims to foster a love of learning early in a child’s journey. The programme supports national efforts to equip young Saudi learners with the mindset, confidence and skills they need to succeed in a fast changing world driven by science, technology and innovation.
The initiative also aligns with broader goals to modernise education in Saudi Arabia, ensuring that learning environments are dynamic, inclusive and centred on curiosity and discovery.
